The NMR service is equipped with five Avance Bruker spectrometers. Two spectrometers are self-service (300 MHz and 500 MHz) and two spectrometers (300 MHz and 500 MHz) operate in sample changer mode 24 hours a day. The flow of all automatic experiences that can be followed in real time by users via the Institute’s intranet. A 600 MHz is mainly intended for the analysis of natural products (high sensitivity / low quantity).

RMN 500 MHz Changer

This spectrometer is intended for the analysis of samples in small quantities (± 1 mg) or unstable samples. It has a good sensitivity in direct carbon detection and allows us to realize in a short time all the 1D and 2D acquisitions needed to resolve organic structures automatically.

Equipement:

  • BBO ATMA probe
  • Gradient Z (50 G/cm)
  • Two canals
  •  60 sample changer

Experiments doable as self-service:

  • 2D : HMQC, HMBC, HSQC, COSY, NOESY, ROESY …
  • 1D : 1H, 13C & DEPT

RMN 600 MHz

The 600 MHz NMR spectrometer is a Bruker Avance spectrometer equipped with a TXI 1.7mm microprobe and a TBI probe (older and less sensitive). A variable temperature accessory BCU II allows to explore a temperature range depending on the possibilities of the probe used and the solvent used. This spectrometer solves difficult structural cases. The causes can be diverse:

  • Low quantity of products,
  • Complexity of the molecule,
  • Balance problems requiring temperature variations

The TXI probe is a proton, carbon, nitrogen reverse probe for 15N studies. By varying the temperature and solvent variations, the protonation sites can be highlighted. It is necessary to have previously recorded a spectrum on a routine spectrometer to obtain a study on this 600 MHz.

Mode of operation of the service

The service has a powerful real-time booking tool that optimizes the use of the spectrometer. The flow of all automatic experiences that can be followed in real time by users via the Institute’s intranet. The NMR data is stored in real time on a shared storage space, secure of very large capacity. NMR data is processed directly on the users’ workstations. The service participated in the beta test phase for the software NMRnotebook which has since been used by the Institute’s chemists for the processing and visualization of NMR spectra.
