Savoir-faire

High field NMR spectrometers are managed by the ‘NMR, Biologiy and Structural Chemistry’ team of the Institute of Chemistry of Natural Substances (ICSN), CNRS, Gif/Yvette.

Design of NMR structural study projects adapted to the systems and questions asked and support during the project stages.

  • Main fields of application:
    • Mainly liquid NMR but also NMR of soft and solid matter.
    • Structure, dynamics and interactions of biological macromolecules: large proteins, intrinsically disordered proteins, structural changes, multiple states, post-translational modifications, protein/nucleic acid/ligand interactions.
    • Natural substances, complex mixtures, small molecules/membranes, liposomes, micelles, fibers, resins.
  • Expertise in NMR methodology:
    • Fast NMR (BEST, SOFAST…), Non-linear sampling or projection methods, 3D, 4D triple resonance experiments for proteins and nucleic acids, Relaxation and Relaxation Dispersion, Residual Dipolar Couplings, Methyl NMR, Protein-Ligand Interactions, DOSY, high pressure.
    • Development of pulse sequences.
  • Data analysis and interpretation:
    • Software programming, calculations (MATLab, Python, HADDOCK, CYANA, ARIA)
  • Production of protein samples for NMR / Cell culture
  • Expertise in the production of recombinant proteins labelled with isotopes (15N/13C/2H) in bacteria and insect cells. Protocols available on request.
